This is the fundamental flaw of our society, I’ll list examples.
1) If everyone went outside for a walk in their neighborhood, they could meet tons of people and make new friends all around. Instead, this activity is restricted to bars and organized events. Why???? Because people put more of their trust in organizers and corporate restaurants run by elites.
2) Dating Services? Why do we need them? You just need the outdoors. The people who run dating services just swallow your hard-earned money.
3) What about insurance companies? Do you have any idea how much of what you pay for insurance is profit for the insurance company to keep? You can beat any insurance company out with just a good investment strategy and keeping reserves for people in your community. Non-profit insurance.
4) Buying hallmark cards on every birthday and occasion from the mall??? Why not make our own creative cards from scratch?
So people, why do we trust corporations so much
Is it coporate ads and commercials on TV? Because you know how these commercials got there. It was paid by the corporation with the money you gave them when you bought their stuff.
edit: Bryan, corporations aren’t particularly helping people, they are rather conditioning people to believe they can’t do things on their own.
In a way, corporations can immobilize people from making an otherwise broader array of choices every day.
1) Many people do know their neighbors and spend time with them. Often times this is done in a social setting like a bar or other organized events. Additionally people enjoy recreational activities offered such as dancing.
2) Many people use dating services because they are inherently shy and have difficulty initiating conversation with the opposite sex. They utilize on line chat and other methods of alternative dating in order to overcome this and arrange face to face meetings.
3) While it is true that people could do well for themselves with careful planned investments, it does not negate the need for insurance. If you want to argue against the profit margin of insurance companies there are better examples you could provide. Insurance allows people of other wise limited means to have some of their costs absorbed by their employers.
4) This one is simple to answer. Some people are not that creative and others are just too busy.
Sorry, I really don’t see anything here which supports an argument that people trust corporations too much. What I see is several examples of how corporations help some people with certain facets of their life.
Edit: Corporations are not altruistic entities. I am not saying that that they are willingly trying to help people, they are in business to make a profit. At the same time they are not involved in a concerted effort to damage people’s lives either. I reiterate the previous statement. What you have posted in no way supports a conclusion that people trust corporations too much. Or that they trust corporations more than they trust individual people. You are trying to draw a social comparison that we are somehow being isolated by corporations and this is just not the case. Although your base argument might make sense if applied to an entity like the Internet.
